Mattel’s philanthropic programs, including
the Mattel Children’s Foundation, all focus on
benefiting children in need. Our philanthropic
programs, partners and activities are intended to make
the most impact on the greatest number of children
around the world, every day. Our philanthropic
focus continues to be supporting young children, ages 0
to 12 years, in need and bringing joy to children.
Our philanthropic priorities guide our programs and
partnerships.
- LEARNING -Increasing
access to education and in particular, innovative
strategies to promote and address the issue of
literacy globally.
- HEALTH -Supporting the
physical health and well-being of children, with
particular emphasis on promoting healthy, active
lifestyles.
- GIRL EMPOWERMENT -
Promoting self-esteem in young girls.
- JOY -Bringing smiles to
children’s faces around the world.
Partnerships
To achieve these priorities, the Mattel Children's
Foundation has embarked on signature partnerships with
leading charitable organizations, including Special
Olympics, Save The Children, Children Affected By AIDS
Foundation (CAAF) and the National Association of
Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI).
In addition the Foundation will continue to support the
Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA and its many
activities and volunteer opportunities throughout each
year.
Grantmaking
Mattel and the Mattel Children's Foundation are currently NOT
accepting unsolicited grants funds for its domestic
grantmaking program.
The Foundation expanded its grantmaking in 2005
beyond the U.S. borders with an International
Grantmaking Program. Mattel offices around the world may
recommend Foundation grants for charities serving their
local communities and children in need.
Employees The
Mattel Children's Foundation continues its support of
Mattel employee volunteer efforts and community
involvement through matching gifts, scholarships and
local community grants.
Toy
Donations Each year, Mattel donates over
one million toys to thousands of non-profit
organizations across the U.S. and globally, from New
York to New Delhi, and everywhere in between. Sharing
our success with children is not just a holiday effort
at Mattel -- it is a year-round, global mission.
