Mattel has a summer internship program that is offered to both MBA and undergraduate students. The program is coordinated through the Corporate Staffing Group, who work with the various divisions and departments within the company to recruit and select interns, and plan and organize the events and activities held throughout the internship.

The different types of internship opportunities available include MBA internships, and undergraduate internships in Design, the INROADS program, and other general undergraduate internship opportunities as well as high school internships. Details on all of these programs are included at the end of this overview.

The objectives of the summer internship program are to:
  • Provide talented students with challenging, real-world experience in their field of study.
  • Enable Mattel to pursue its goals and growth objectives through high quality temporary employee support.
  • Attract high caliber employees to Mattel through successful interns returning as full-time employees, and others through positive word of mouth as a result of internship experiences.
The length of internships is typically 12 weeks, and start and ending dates will be determined prior to the beginning of the internship by the department and the intern. There are established standard pay rates for both MBA and undergraduate interns.

The following is a summary level description of the different types of internship opportunities available:

Diverse Opportunities for MBAsBack to Top
Mattel offers challenging summer internships for first year MBA students. Most MBA internships are in either Marketing or Finance, but are also offered by other divisions or departments based on need. These unique opportunities provide project-based work that requires teamwork, ingenuity, and creativity, as well as tactical responsibilities that expose the intern first-hand to the experiences of a full-time employee.

The interns learn the complexities of the department they are assigned to, spend time with senior level executives, attend “brown bag” presentations and seminars, take field trips to help increase their understanding of the company’s various operations, and, of course, attend a few social events.
