Chief Executive Officer
Dena Cook is Executive Vice President and Head of Global Communications and Public Relations of Mattel. Dena oversees all corporate communications, brand communications and executive communications for the Company. She is also responsible for internal communications designed to engage and inspire the Company’s global workforce.
Dena joined Mattel after 14 years as CEO of Brew, an international corporate communications firm with offices in Los Angeles, New York and London. During her tenure at Brew, Dena led the firm’s strategic advisory services for innovative companies across media, technology, consumer products and finance. She helped clients navigate business-critical issues, shaped corporate narratives and built and re-established brands. She also led Brew’s acquisition by Freuds Communications in 2016.
Previously, Dena served as a Senior Vice President at Zeno Group, where she directed and implemented high impact corporate and executive communications programs for technology and consumer product clients. She also oversaw accounts and consulted for global public relations agencies Fleishman-Hillard, Golin and MSL. Dena began her career with roles at pharmaceutical giant Sanofi and French luxury goods maker Lalique.
In 2019, Dena was recognized by The Holmes Report as one of its Influence 100 for her longstanding contributions to communications. Business Insider also ranked Dena Number 1 among the best public relations professionals in technology in 2017. She is a guest lecturer at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
Dena has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of California at Davis. A passionate advocate for children’s rights, Cook is on the Board of Directors for The Mattel Children’s Foundation. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Children’s Rights.
