Mattel HQ is surrounded by beaches, amazing food, music, sports, tourist attractions and the cultural hub for art, music, film and more. Our offices in more than 35 locations ensure you'll gain a truly global perspective. On-site conveniences include our fitness center, cafeteria, dry cleaning, car wash and toy store. Our interns are involved in impactful projects across the entire organization, including everything from blue sky portfolio expansions and analyzing play patterns in our Play Lab, to capitalizing on the hottest toy trends. Some interns work on iconic events like Comic Con or movie premiers like Jurassic World, while others might help the product development and engineering teams advance our digital innovation, or the design and marketing teams create culturally relevant, purpose-driven dolls. Whether you’re getting into design, supply chain, finance, sales, marketing, engineering, technology or HR, we’re always looking for innovative perspectives from future leaders.
Interns work within a cross-functional group on a special project assigned by a Mattel committee, giving you a chance to:
- Tackle a key area of interest for Mattel from a fresh new angle
- Get exposure to all areas of the business
- Process feedback on deliverables along the way
- Deliver a final presentation to our executives
Lunchtime learning opportunities allow you to:
- Get acquainted with our most dynamic and influential leaders at Mattel
- Hear their personal journeys (including all the bumps along the way)
- Receive valuable career guidance
Our interns experience hands-on learning at two of our locations:
- San Bernardino Distribution Center: Tour our largest distribution center and participate in a Q&A with the SBDC team
- American Girl Store at The Grove: Experience our best-in-class customer service model first-hand
Each intern is paired up with a mentor and a buddy to help you maximize your time at Mattel:
- Mentors: Your sounding board as you navigate your projects and our organization, connecting you to the right people and making sure you're getting the most out of your time with us
- Buddies: Showing you the Mattel ropes, giving you an inside look at our culture, and answering any questions
The Mattel Future Leaders Innovating Play (FLIP) Leadership Program is a part of Mattel’s Play Fair initiative, which invests in the next generation of the Black community with intention by providing access and opportunities, and articulates the actions we are taking to address racism, injustice and violence against the Black community. FLIP is a multi-day immersive experience that will introduce historically underrepresented students to ‘life at Mattel’, our phenomenal employees, the children’s entertainment and toy industry, and knowledge and training to kick off their careers.
