Health & Well-Being

We believe in healthy living and active, positive lifestyle. We have a long history of promoting health and wellness and supporting playgrounds, day cares, community centers and hospitals around the world, including our namesake UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital. In today’s unprecedented times, we are actively contributing in various ways to the fight against COVID-19.

Our COVID-19 Response

Mattel has taken a proactive approach in the fight against COVID-19. We support healthcare heroes on the front lines by producing face shields and cloth face masks for medical professions in the U.S. and around the world.

Additionally, we have provided toy donations to non-profit partners including Baby2Baby, Feed the Children, LA Family Housing, LA Students Most in Need (through the Los Angeles Unified School District), Partners for Pediatric Vision, Save the Children and UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, among others, as well as monetary grants to Feed the Children and Save the Children. We have also set up programs with the Red Cross and Save the Children and are matching employee donations to both organizations.

Timed to COVID-19, we launched Play it Forward, a new platform which focuses on leveraging our brands to drive awareness of, and give back to, important causes. The first Play it Forward program is #ThankYouHeroes, a line including items from Fisher-Price, Matchbox, Mega Construx and Uno that honors the healthcare professionals leading the fight against COVID-19 as well as the everyday heroes who are working to keep communities up and running. All net proceeds from the collection are going to #FirstRespondersFirst, an initiative created to support first responder healthcare workers as they serve on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.* Barbie also launched a #ThankYouHeroes program, donating a doll for each eligible career doll that was sold from May 14, 2020 – May 17, 2020 to the First Responders Children’s Foundation, benefiting the children of first responders.

UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital

We are proud to be the namesake of UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, as part of a landmark collaboration with UCLA Health. Our support has helped to expand pediatric services in Los Angeles, broaden the hospital's global presence to enhance and improve the health of children worldwide and promote the global sharing of UCLA Health’s best practices and research.
