Create Access To Play

We create meaningful play experiences for children in need. We do this through our toy donations, play kits, partnerships with organizations such as Go Baby Go and annual Mattel volunteer events.

Toy Donations

The power of our iconic brands is illuminated most brightly when we’re able to provide a toy to a child in need. Whether they’re overcoming disadvantages, battling illnesses or recovering from natural disasters, nothing puts smiles on faces quite like a Mattel toy. Toy donations to children’s hospitals, schools, youth homes, shelters, orphanages and many non-profit organizations serving children in need are the main pillar of our giving history.

Play Kits

Mattel play kits – branded cinch bags with specially curated product – were developed in 2018 as a way to supply our partners who provide disaster relief with toys for pop-up shelters housing families affected by natural disasters. This quickly became a popular mechanism for in-kind donations. In 2018 and 2019, more than 6,000 play kits were assembled by employee volunteers and donated to children’s organizations focused on foster care, homelessness and disaster relief, as well as schools.
  • We are proud to collaborate with organizations such as Go Baby Go, a program that provides modified, ride-on cars to young children with disabilities so they can move around independently. In 2019, Mattel employees at our headquarters and Fisher-Price campus locations helped customize Power Wheels ride-on vehicles for children with limited mobility. The sheer delight on kids’ faces when they ride in their Power Wheels vehicles for the first time, and move around, was priceless. It speaks to our purpose of bringing joy to kids through play, and it’s something we want children of all abilities to experience.
  • We partner with Good360 to carry out our donation requests around the world. Good360 is a global leader in product philanthropy and purposeful giving that partners with socially responsible companies to source highly needed goods and distributes them through its network of diverse nonprofits that support people in need.

Global Day of Play

In 2019, we hosted our second annual Global Day of Play. Mattel offices around the world came together, in partnership with local charities and global partners, to make a positive impact on local communities. Over 1,000 employees in 34 countries partnered with organizations serving children to bring Mattel play experiences to those who need it most.

Global Gift of Play

The holiday season is the most highly anticipated time of the year for children of all ages and we’re glad to play a key role in delivering on that excitement and making memories that last a lifetime.  Employees at Mattel locations all around the world donate their time and Mattel toys through our Global Gift of Play program that helps local communities during this special time of year.
