Mattel play kits – branded cinch bags with specially curated product – were developed in 2018 as a way to supply our partners who provide disaster relief with toys for pop-up shelters housing families affected by natural disasters. This quickly became a popular mechanism for in-kind donations. In 2018 and 2019, more than 6,000 play kits were assembled by employee volunteers and donated to children’s organizations focused on foster care, homelessness and disaster relief, as well as schools.
We are proud to collaborate with organizations such as Go Baby Go, a program that provides modified, ride-on cars to young children with disabilities so they can move around independently. In 2019, Mattel employees at our headquarters and Fisher-Price campus locations helped customize Power Wheels ride-on vehicles for children with limited mobility. The sheer delight on kids’ faces when they ride in their Power Wheels vehicles for the first time, and move around, was priceless. It speaks to our purpose of bringing joy to kids through play, and it’s something we want children of all abilities to experience.
